Here's how such a session might look.

 

1. Opening (5-10 minutes)

Focus: Centering and setting intentions.

Greeting & Check-in: Brief discussion of the client’s goals or any physical/mental concerns.

 

Pranayama (Breathwork): Simple breathing techniques like Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) or Ujjayi to center the mind and prepare for the session.

 

2. Asana Practice (30-35 minutes)

Focus: Physical postures aligned with the client’s needs (flexibility, strength, relaxation, etc.).

 

Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): Gentle movements or flows like Cat-Cow, Sun Salutations, or joint mobilization.

 

Main Sequence (15-20 minutes):

 

Targeted poses based on individual goals (e.g., hip openers, backbends, twists).

Integration of alignment cues and props for support.

Holding poses longer to deepen awareness.

Cool-Down (5 minutes): Restorative poses like Child’s Pose, Supine Twist, or Legs Up the Wall.

 

3. Guided Relaxation (5-10 minutes)

Focus: Relaxing and integrating the benefits of the session.

Savasana (Corpse Pose): Guided body scan or visualization to release tension.

 

Optional: Brief seated meditation or mindfulness exercise.

 

4. Closing (5 minutes)

Reiki, a Japanese energy healing technique, has been a transformative part of my life. I first discovered it during one of the most challenging periods I’ve faced—struggling with addiction and overwhelming stress. I was searching for a holistic approach to help me regain balance, and Reiki became that light in the darkness.

 

The Benefits of Reiki

 

Reiki works by channeling universal life energy through the practitioner to the recipient, promoting relaxation, emotional healing, and spiritual alignment. Here are some of the ways it has helped me and many others:

 

1. Stress Reduction and Relaxation

Reiki creates a profound sense of peace. It allows the body to move out of the "fight or flight" response into a state of deep relaxation, which was vital for me when dealing with the constant anxiety tied to addiction.

 

 

2. Emotional Healing

It gave me a safe space to process and release the guilt, shame, and self-judgment I carried for years. Reiki helped me find forgiveness and self-compassion, both essential for breaking free from destructive patterns.

What a 1-Hour Reiki Session Looks Like

 

A Reiki session is as much about creating a nurturing space as it is about energy work. Here's what you can expect during a typical hour-long session:

 

1. Setting the Intention

We start with a brief conversation to discuss what you’re seeking from the session. Whether it’s stress relief, emotional balance, or physical healing, setting a clear intention helps focus the energy.

 

 

2. Creating a Relaxing Environment

You’ll lie fully clothed on a massage table in a serene, quiet room. Soft lighting, calming music, and perhaps some aromatherapy enhance the peaceful ambiance.

 

 

3. Energy Work

I begin by lightly placing my hands—or hovering them slightly—over specific areas of your body, starting from the head and moving downward. Each position is held for several minutes to channel energy where it’s needed most.

 

 

4. Observing Sensations

During the session, you may feel warmth, tingling, or a gentle wave of relaxation. Some clients experience emotional releases, such as tears or a sense of lightness.

 

 

5. Closing and Grounding

After 45–50 minutes of energy work, we’ll take a few moments to ground. I’ll gently guide you back to awareness, and we can discuss any sensations or insights you experienced.
